Now, for those job details:

We’re hiring an Inspection Lane Technician at our West Shop in Hudson, IL! You’ll run our Inspection Lane — inspecting every tractor and trailer that comes through, knocking out “Quick Hit” repairs on the spot, and handing off bigger jobs to the shop. It’s fast-paced and hands-on, and you’ll be talking with drivers and the shop office all day. Keeping our trucks safe and drivers moving makes this role a big part of Nussbaum’s success! Your duties include:

  • Inspect every tractor and trailer that passes through the lane, and document defects and safety concerns.
  • Complete Quick Hit repairs on tires, lights, mudflaps, air lines and brakes, minor body work, and DOT markings and plates.
  • Decide what can be fixed in the lane and what needs to go to the shop.
  • Keep the West Shop office updated on incoming work, repair status, and major repairs found.
  • Explain findings to drivers clearly and respectfully, and keep wait times short.
  • Create inspections and record parts, labor, and work performed in our computer system.
  • Follow safe work practices and keep the lane clean, organized, and stocked.
