Now, for those job details: Business Development Manager (BDM)

The Business Development Manager is responsible for building strong relationships with our customers and new accounts. Our ideal candidate is an experienced transportation professional who understands the sales process, industry/market trends, and how to guide business development efforts to a close. As a mouthpiece for Nussbaum, they must present confidently as they engage various external parties. They should also demonstrate exceptional people skills and a strong desire to engage with the Nussbaum sales team in keeping one another Hungry, Humble, and Smart.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Business development – Using sales tools to develop new relationships and revenue pipelines for Nussbaum.
  • Inside sales – Cultivating existing accounts and positioning yourself as a trusted advisor to our customers.
  • Bid management via our workflow – Engaging our three-legged stool (Pricing, Operations, and Sales) to develop business proposals and contracts.
  • Visiting customers and leads – Some travel is required. Usually day trips; some overnights.
  • Develop strong cross-department relationships – Communicate customer successes/needs/challenges to the broader Nussbaum team (billing, pricing, operations, executive leadership). Work across departments to escalate and resolve customer issues.

Schedule

  • Full time: Monday-Friday, 7am – 4:30pm.
  • Location: Corporate Offices – 19336 N 1425 East Rd., Hudson IL.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Transportation Experience preferred
  • Driven by goals and comfortable with metrics

  • Sales experience preferred
