Job Description

Nussbaum is seeking to add Diesel/Trailer Maintenance Technicians to our maintenance team in Hudson, IL. In this role, you will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet equipment (semi-trucks & trailers), as well as DOT equipment inspections. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a safety-first mindset, strong organizational skills, and possess either a Diesel Technician Degree or 1+ years of experience as a diesel/heavy-duty trailer mechanic.

Job Duties 

Our maintenance technicians are critical to Nussbaum’s success. In order to serve our customers, we must have working equipment ready to go at all times. In supporting this effort, your duties will include:

  • Preventative maintenance on semi-trucks & trailers
  • Diagnose and repair fleet equipment
  • Perform all inspections, including State and Federal mandated safety inspections
  • Complete repairs following DOT requirements
  • Perform system repairs, including air & hydraulic systems, tires, suspension, electrical, etc.
  • Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned tractor/trailer equipment
  • Follow safe work practices
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area

Schedule 

  • Full Time position; hiring for both 1st & 2nd shifts (schedule may vary, some weekend rotations)
    • 1st Shift: 8hr shifts, 5 days per week
    • 2nd Shift: 10hr shifts, 4 days per week

Compensation

  • Pay range: $18 – $40 per hour, depending on skills and experience
  • Trainees start at $18 per hour

Job Requirements

  • Diesel Technician Degree OR 1+ years of experience as a diesel/heavy-duty trailer technician/mechanic
  • Safety-first mindset
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other automotive systems
  • Strong understanding of diesel automotive systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical diagnostics
  • Knowledge of diesel/trailer maintenance processes and methods
  • Effective communication with colleagues and superiors
